Prayers

A Cub Scout Prayer

Help us, dear God, to love thee day by day
To do our duty to you and enjoy our play
To keep our cub scout promise the best that we can
And to do our best always to help our fellow man.
Amen

Unison Reading

God is present here in his creations of beauty;
The forest and the water, the sky and the stars,
The rain and the wind, the flame and the soil.
God is especially present in each of us;
We are his hands and his voice.
God sends us forth to tend the poor and the lame,
To teach others of his ways with our example
And our good deeds.
He asks each of us to accept that mission,
That our hands are God’s hands, our voices his voice.

Blue & Gold Benediction

Dear Father,

We thank you for this food and fellowship that we share tonight. As we come together on this anniversary of Cub Scouting to celebrate, we ask you to bless this food and our fellowship so that we may all Do Our Best to Do Our Duty, to You, our country, our communities, our families, and ourselves.

As our Webelos become Boy Scouts, we also ask that they remember always the lessons they have learned:

To be Trustworthy, Loyal, and Helpful to all those they meet,

To be Friendly, Courteous, and Kind to friend and stranger alike,

To Obediently and Cheerfully do their duty, and to be Thrifty, so as not to squander the gifts you have provided,

To be Brave and Clean to face the challenges of everyday life with a clean mind and a clean spirit, and

To be Reverent - remembering always your presence in their lives.

We thank you, O' Lord. Amen

Parents' Prayer

O Heavenly Father, make me a better parent.  Teach me to understand my children, to listen patiently to what they have to say and to answer their questions kindly.
Keep me from interrupting or contradicting.
Help me to be as courteous to them as I want them to be to me.
Forbid that I should ever laugh at their mistakes or resort to shame or ridicule.
May I never punish them out of anger or spite or to show my power.
Help me, Dear Lord, the meanness in me.
And when I am out of sorts,  help me to hold my tongue.
May I be ever mindful that my children are merely children and that I should not expect them to have the maturity and judgment of adult.
Let me not rob them of the opportunity to do things for themselves or to make their own decisions.
Help me grant them all reasonable requests and give me the courage to deny them the privileges that I think may be harmful.
Help me to be fair and just and kind, O Lord, so that I will earn their love and respect and they will want to imitate me.  This is the supreme compliment.
Amen.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Look down on us this evening as we gather together in the Spirit of Scouting, Bless these families assembled here and guide them as they go forward in Akela's path. Amen.

Cub Scout Prayer

Lord in this evening hour I pray
For strength to live my best each day;
Draw near to me, and I shall see
The kind of Cub you'd have me be.

In serving others may I see
That I am only serving Thee.
Fit me, O Lord, in Thy Great love,
That I may be a better Cub. Wayfarer's Grace

For all the glory of the way,
For thy protection night and day,
For roof, tree, fire, and bed and board,
For friends and homes we thank the Lord.
AMEN

Hebrew Blessing

Blessed are thou, o lord, our god,
King of the universe, who bringeth
Forth bread from the Earth.

Grace

Our loving father, you have given so much to us,
We ask for but one thing more; a thankful heart.
Through Christ our lord. Amen

Grace

Accept our thanks,
We pray to you O Lord.
For these and for all your gifts,
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for letting me be a Cub Scout.
Thank you for helping me to make new friends.
Thank you for my parent who help me.
Thank you for all the fun I have had.
And most of all,
Thank you for helping me when things we hard.
Amen.

Prayer

Let us think for a moment of all the countries that go to make up the God's world.  There are many places where people cannot live a happy and normal life as we do.  There are still countries torn by war and all the horrors it brings.  We know that in others, food and medicine are in short supply, and that people like ourselves are suffering and dying because of it.  Lord, give strength to all those who are in need and guide the hearts of all who are trying to help them.  Amen.

Scouter's Prayer

Dear Lord, from your judgment seat on high,
Look down on a Scouter such as I.
Search me through and find me whole,
Then help me Lord to reach my goal.
Help me Lord to work for Thee.
Guard my homeland - Keep it free.
Help me to work with others and be kind.
Helpful with my hands and mind.
Keep me Lord, both well and strong
To help our growing boys along.
Control my thoughts, keep them right,
sound, clean weapons for life's fight.
Protect my morals, keep them high,
Grant this to a Scouter such as I.

Benediction

May God bless us and protect us;
May God show us favor and be gracious to us;
May God show us kindness and grant us peace.
Amen.

Den or Pack Prayer

We thank you, God, for our pack; and for all the boys and families who are touched by Scouting.  Make us strong as we work together to help other people, and as we do our duty to You and to our country.  Help us remember to live by the Law of the Pack and the Cub Scout Promise.

The Leader's Prayer

Please God, grant me the spark to imagine, the daring to innovate, the discipline to plan, the skill to do, the will to achieve, the commitment to be responsible, and the leadership to motivate.

  Dear God,
With this prayer, I call to mind my friends.  I ask for your blessing on them.  May angels fill their nights and bless their days.  May they find joy and peace and harmony.  May I be a source of happiness in their lives.  May our bonds be strong and based on truth.  May they always know that in me, they have support.  May I live a life that lives up to this prayer.  Thank You, God.  Amen.

Benediction

Let us go forth with God's blessing to serve him in joy and gladness and let us say - Amen.

Prayer for an Outing

We thank you, O God, for all the loveliness of nature, which is your special handiwork.  Everything is wonderfully made with your special care.

Help us to understand our world more and more and know how we can help take care of the things, which you have made, and keep them beautiful as you meant for them to be.  Amen

 Scout Law Prayer

Dear Lord, Bless all those everywhere who contribute to shape the hearts, minds and bodies of young people.  Let us remember what they have taught and apply it daily.

When facing deceit and dishonesty, let us be Trustworthy.  If we see hypocrisy and faithlessness, let us be Loyal.  Where disregard of others and mere materialism prevail, let us be Helpful.  When we find people in despair, let us be Friendly.  In an atmosphere of ill manner, let us be Courteous.  Where some measure manliness in brutality and crudeness, let us be Kind.  Though lawbreaking and rule-scoffing are common, let us be Obedient.  While others grumble and grouch, let us be Cheerful.  In an environment blighted by waste and extravagance, let us be Thrifty.  When confronted with danger and temptation, let us be Brave.  As we see filth and pollution everywhere, let us be Clean.  While witnessing impiety, let us remember to be Reverent.

In short, in a world that has for generation after generation lamented the lack of good examples, let us, as Scouts, stand out, grow up, and be real adults.  Amen.

Prayers for Den or Pack Meeting

Dear God, Bless all the Scouts around the world.  Help us remember that we are working together to help make our world a better place.  Guide our words and our actions so that we set the kind of example You would want us to set.  Amen

Dear God, Give us thankful hearts and keep us from grumbling and having bad tempers in our homes.  Help us to get along with each other.  Keep us cheerful when things go wrong and our plans are upset.  And may we grow in love and understanding of one another.  Amen.

A Leader's Prayer

Please God grant me--
The spark to imagine
The daring to innovate
The discipline to plan
The skill to do
The will to achieve
The commitment to be responsible
The leadership to motivate

The Cub Scout's Thanksgiving

O, Heavenly Father, we ask for Your blessing
For loved ones and friends that are near.
We thank you for food and for love and for life
And the Spirit of Cub Scouting that's here
We thank you for leaders who care about boys,
Who give us their time--that's better than toys!
We thank you for dads who help us learn right,
For moms who sew on our badges at night.
For all this, thank you dear Lord, up above,
For being in Scouting is something we love!

 Cub Parents' Prayer

(can be used as closing)

 A Cub Parents' Prayer

He's just a little laddie, God,
This blue-eyed Cub o'mine.
Take Thou his hand along the way,
Help him be square and to obey.
Bless all these busy Cubs, dear God!
Grant they true Cubs may be -
For if they follow all Cub rules,
They won't stray far from Thee.
Bless all, dear God, who guide them,
Crown each effort, noble, true -
Sustain the good Cub parents
They need Thy blessings, too!
