Ceremonies - Bobcat

Six Good Deeds Bobcat Advancement

(Cubmaster calls the Scouts and their parents up front. Badges and pins are handed to parent).

CUBMASTER: These new Cub Scouts have earned their first rank. To do so they learned the following basics of Cub Scouting:

Cub Scout sign (Scouts give sign)

Cub Scout handshake (Cubmaster greets each Scout)

Cub Scout motto (all Scouts repeat "do your best")

Cub Scout salute (Scouts give salute)

Webelos (Scouts repeat meaning of Webelos – We’ll Be Loyal Scouts)

Cub Scout Promise (Scouts give sign and repeat promise)

To do my Best, to do my Duty to God and my Country, to Help other People and, to Obey the Law of the Pack.

Law of the Pack (Scouts repeat together)

The Cub Scout follows Akela,
The Cub Scout helps the Pack To,
The Pack helps the Cub Scout grow,
The Cub Scout gives goodwill.

Scouts, please turn and face your parents. Parents please present the Bobcat badge and pin to your son.

Now you are truly Cub Scouts with the rank of Bobcat. You have taken the first step toward becoming a Wolf, a Bear, and a Webelos and earning your Arrow of Light. Wear your Bobcat badge with pride!!

You were also presented with a Bobcat pin, which is a mother’s pin. You are to wear this pin on your uniform upside down until you have done 6 good deeds for your mom. Then you can turn it right side up. At a future Pack Meeting, we will present the pin to your mom during a very special ceremony.

Parents, be proud of your son because he has worked very hard to earn this rank. Remind him of what it means and work with him in attaining his next rank. Also make sure he truly does do 6 good deeds before he turns the pin right side up on his uniform.

(cheer)
