World of Tomorrow

(Tune: My Bonnie)
Last night as I lay on my pillow,
And drifted off slowly to sleep,
I thought of the world of tomorrow,
These thoughts through my mind did creep.
A computer will do all my homework,
A robot will do all my chores.
If I spend the whole day just playing,
I fear that I may become bored.

Chorus:
Bring back, bring back,
Oh, bring back the old days to me, to me.
Bring back, bring back,
Oh, bring back the old days to me.
My jet powered bike will be speedy,
I'll fly in my spaceship to Mars.
But what if I get lost in space,
And can't find my way through the stars.

(repeat chorus)

My parents will have their own rocket,
We'll travel through space very quick,
I'm not sure I'll like that fast travel,
I may even get space sick.

(repeat chorus)

Our family may move to Venus,
I don't know what we would find there,
I'd sure miss my friends back on earth,
They're the best friends I'll find anywhere.

(repeat chorus)

Dehydrated food for breakfast,
Dehydrated food for lunch,
Oh what I would give for a Big Mac,
And potato chips that I can crunch.

(repeat chorus)

Down By The Launch Pad

(Tune: Down By the Station)
Down by the Launch pad,
Early in the morning.
See the Saturn booster Waiting in its place.
Hear the engines rumbling,
On our way to Saturn,
Boom, boom! Blast off, into space.

Rockets into Space

(Tune: Row, Row, Row Your Boat)
Up, up, up they go
Rockets into space.
Faster, faster, faster, faster,
How can we keep pace?
Up, up, up they go
Rockets to the moon.
Farther, farther, farther, farther,
Mars now, Venus soon.

Astronomer's Song

(Tune: Yankee Doodle)
We've got our eyes upon the sky
We watch the starts that shimmer,
The sun and moon are friends of ours,
We know their every glimmer.
Keep your eyes upon the skies,
Watch the twinkling stars,
It's better than a TV show,
By Jupiter and Mars.

The Astronaut's Plea

(Tune: My Bonnie)
I went for a ride in a spaceship.
The moon and the planets to see.
I went for a ride in a spaceship.
Now listen what happened to me.

Chorus:
Bring back, bring back,
O bring back my spaceship to me, to me.
Bring back, bring back,
O bring back my spaceship to me.
I went for a ride in a spaceship,
The capsule was crowded and I
Developed a cramp in my muscles,
So I decided to walk in the sky.

(repeat chorus)
I went for a walk in my spacesuit:
The ship was controlled from the ground.
And someone in charge down at NASA
Forgot I was walking around.

(chorus)

The Planets

(Tune of Are You Sleeping)
Mercury, Mercury,
Is the smallest, Is the smallest
And it's very close
To the sun
And very hot, and very hot.
Venus is, Venus is,
Our nearest neighbor, our nearest neighbor
Venus is covered
With many clouds
And is very bright, and is very bright.
The Earth, the Earth,
Is where we live, is where we live
We've gravity and water
And oxygen too.
To help us breathe, to help us breathe.
Mars is similar , Mars is similar,
To our Earth, to our Earth
But it has less gravity
And it has no oxygen
So we couldn't breathe, we couldn't breathe.
Jupiter is the largest, Jupiter is the largest,
And it has, and it has
A very large red spot
It's called a gas giant
And it has twelve moons, it has twelve moons.
Saturn has many rings, Saturn has many rings,
And nine moons, and nine moons,
Eight revolve counterclockwise
But one is the opposite.
It goes clockwise, it goes clockwise.
Uranus rotates strangely, Uranus rotates strangely,
On its axis, on its axis,
Its North Pole faces the sun
For almost twenty years
Then the South Pole does the same, the South Pole does the same.
Neptune is the outermost, Neptune is the outermost,
Of the four gas giants, of the four gas giants
It has an icy surface
That makes it very cold,
-330 degrees, -330 degrees.
Pluto is the farthest, Pluto is the farthest
From the sun, from the sun,
It's very hard to find
Because it is so far away
From the Earth, from the Earth.

Space Cub Scouts

(Tune: Do Your Ears Hang Low)
Do your ears point high?
Mr. Spock's your kind of guy.
On the Starship Enterprise,
Out in space we're gonna fly.
Where no man has gone before.
Through the universe and more.
Do you ears point high?
Are your ears quite long?
Then you must be a Klingon,
Will you sneak up on our ship
Till our radar shows a blip?
Then we'll blast you with our phasers
Our ship is the one that stays here.
Are your ears quite long?
We are Space Cub Scouts.
"Beam em Up!" is what we shout.
On the Enterprise we work
We report to Captain Kirk.
Through the struggles and the strife,
Looking for new forms of life.
We are Space Cub Scouts.

The Daring Spaceman

(Tune: When Johnny Comes Marching Home)
I am a daring Astronaut,
Hurrah, hurrah,
I'm getting ready to blast off,
Hurrah, Hurrah
The rocket takes me high in space,
My capsule is a most comfortable place,
To a space adventure I'm on my way.
I'm orbiting around the moon,
Hurrah, Hurrah,
I think I'll land there very soon,
Hurrah, Hurrah.
I'll pitch and yaw, and roll through, space,
I've never seen such sights in a place
I'm a daring spaceman won’t you come with me?
Let's fly to other planets now,
Hurrah, Hurrah.
Come fly with me, I'll show you how,
Hurrah, Hurrah
We'll stop at Mercury, and Mars,
At Neptune we can gaze at stars,
What a lovely sight, the wonderful world of space.

Order of the Planets

(Tune of Down By The Station)
My very eager mother
Just served us nine pizzas
To help us remember
The order of the planets.
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars,
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus
Neptune and Pluto are their names.

The Family of the Sun

(Tune of: Farmer in the Dell) Courtesy of NASA Museum
Refrain:
The family of the Sun,
The family of the Sun.
Here are nine planets in
The family of the Sun.

Verses:
1. Mercury is hot,
And Mercury is small.
Mercury has no atmosphere.
Its just a rocky ball.

(Refrain)
2. Venus has thick clouds,
That hide what is below.
The air is foul, the ground is hot,
It rotates very slow.
3. We love the Earth, our home,
Its oceans and its trees.
We eat its food, we breathe its air,
So no pollution, please.

(Refrain)
4. Mars is very red.
Its also dry and cold
Someday you might visit Mars
If you are really bold.

(Refrain)
5. Great Jupiter is big.
We've studied it a lot.
We found that it has 16 moons
And a big red spot.

(Refrain)
6. Saturn has great rings.
We wondered what they were.
Now we know they're icy rocks
Which we saw as a blur. (Refrain)
7. Uranus and Neptune
We don't know much about.
Maybe you will study them
And then we'll all find out.

(Refrain)
8. Pluto's last in line.
The family of the Sun,
It's farthest from the Sun.
The family of the Sun,
It's small and cold and icy too
There are nine planets and
To land there won't be fun.
Now our journeys done!

The Solar System

(Tune of Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush)
Let's take a trip to the solar system, the solar
system, the solar system.
Let's take a trip to the solar system
To see what we can see.
At the center is the fiery sun, the fiery sun, the fiery sun.
At the center is the fiery sun
Whose rays warm up our planet.
Nine planets are revolving, revolving, revolving
Nine planets are revolving
Around the sun.
They revolve in an orbit, orbit, orbit.
They revolve in an orbit
That takes Earth an entire year.
Each planet rotates, rotates, rotates.
Each planet rotates
On its axis.
Rotation of Earth takes twenty-four hours, twenty-four hours, twenty-four
hours.
Rotation of Earth takes twenty-four hours
And gives us night and day.
